2 year agoUnrests in Nukus, Karakalpakstan. Karakalpakstan used to be an autonomous republic in Uzbekistan. In 1990s they proclaimed sovereignity with the right of secession. Now Uzbekistan decided to abolish it autonomy, escalating the conflict.

Sporadic gunfire can also be heard in a video circulating on social media, but Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, tweeted that "there are no problems around the gathering, and security forces fired several shots at a suspicious location."
