According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, today the Russian authorities officially recognized the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. According to the Russian Ambassador to Kabul Dmitry Zhirnov, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov proposed recognizing the Taliban in order to establish a partnership with Afghanistan.
